PELVIPOWER FOR A HEALTHY PELVIC FLOOR

Method: The entire muscular system of the pelvis and in the hip, buttock
and thigh area is reached by repetitive and short magnetic field pulses.
The method of “Functional Magnetic Stimulation” (FMS) ist comparable to
“Functional Electrical Stimulation” (FES) in its effect, but with the advantage
that ist achieves a higher depth effect more gently and non-invasive.

“Magnetic field stimulation is
especially suitable for strengthening
the body core. It provides an
excellent, deep penetrating
effect for effective neuromuscular
training.”

Univ.-Prof. DDr. Winfried Mayr

MAGNETFELD-TRAINING (MFT)

“Magnetic field stimulation is an effective alternative to conventional electrotherapy. While electrotherapy involves intervention in the intimate zone and has to be carried out using invasive electrodes, PelviPower training is more comfortable for the patient and considerably less time-consuming for the doctor or therapist connected.”

Physikalische Wirkungsweise der Magnetfeldstimulation

A stimulation system embedded in the seat, made up of magnetic coils and the associated electronics, generates repetitive magnetic field pulses of 200 to 500 µs duration. The induction caused by this generates electrical potential shifts in the tissue above, which are so strong that they lead to a depolarization of peripheral nerves. The resulting action potentials of the depolarized nerves ultimately lead to the contraction of the associated muscles. A single impulse creates a single contraction or a short muscle twitch. From a specific frequency, the so-called fusion frequency, the muscle changes to tetanus. Depending on the muscle type, this condition occurs between 15 and 25 Hz. A further increase above the fusion frequency leads to an increase in the force of contraction and the speed of contraction, but also to more rapid muscle fatigue and a changed training stimulus. The stimulation technique offers a pulse train frequency spectrum from 5 to 50 Hz. Since the PelviPower training does not selectively train individual muscles, but affects the entire muscular system of the pelvis and in the hips, buttocks and thighs, all important muscles are strengthened together, especially those that are most weakened by neglected activation. This significantly improves the prerequisites for targeted relearning of muscle coordination.

As a result of the depolarization of the motor nerves, however, the extracorporeal magnetic stimulation also creates an intracorporeally generated proprioceptive return current to the brain. It could be shown that an internal return flow of sensory information generated by external stimulation is able to permanently change the cortical representation, as well as to improve the personal perception and controllability of individual muscle functions, indirectly also their coordination. The effective range of the coil can be individually adjusted up to 18 cm. This makes the therapy method particularly suitable for treating obese people. The rpMs stimulates the pelvic floor muscles on a neuromuscular basis. The micromassage effect clearly stimulates the blood circulation in the entire trunk as well as in the lower lumbar region. Light fascial adhesions or scarring can be loosened with the rpMs. In patients who are unable to contract their insufficient pelvic floor willingly, the rpMs can be used as passive muscle training before the active one. Patients who cannot identify their pelvic floor muscles can use the rpMs to quickly and clearly localize the levator ani muscle. For patients with restricted mobility, the PelviPower pelvic floor training with the rpMs has proven to be one of the most successful alternatives.

BIO-FEEDBACK-TRAINING (BFT)

The Bio-Feedback-Trainer (BFT) is one of the first ergonomically adaptive training devices. The self-training of the pelvic floor is visualized on the monitor. Your own body awareness is improved and developed in a playful way.

The patient sit fully clothed on the device. This enables relaxed training. A sensor integrated into the seat registers the activity of the pelvic floor muscles and shows the strength on the screen. During training, the pelvic floor is tensed, the tension is held for a certain period of time and the muscles are relaxed again. These exercises are repeated several times.

The muscle movements during training are visualized on a screen. A graphic on the screen prompts the trainee to tense and relax the muscles. This simply follows a given curve with its muscle movement. The sensor can be perfectly adjusted to the body. In combination with the adjustable back padding, it is possible to carry out the training with high precision.

“The training has shown great success.
Almost all patients experienced
significant improvement or complete
alleviation of their symptoms.”

“This therapy is a particularly
helpful option, particularly when
treating older patients,
and especially those with
restricted mobility.“

“The technology is mature and
state-of-the-art. Because of its variability,
the broad therapeutic range extends
from faecal incontinence to
post-prostatectomy rehabilitation.
The system is therefore a good addition
to continence therapy.“
